Why It Matters
Producing and disposing of paper pollutes land, air and water, threatens wildlife and affects human health. A single sheet of paper may seem like an insignificant thing but the use of thousands of sheets each day can have a huge impact on the environment. For every tone of paper used for recycling the savings are:
- At least 30,000 liters of water
- 3000—4000 KWh electricity (enough for an average 3 bedroom house for one yr.)
- 95% of air pollution
The United States is the world’s leading
paper recycler. Thanks to Americans’
commitment to recycling, we collect over
one-third of all the paper recovered in
the world. Because of all of us helping
just a little bit there will be plenty of
trees and forest products for future
generations to enjoy!
